Weather

The main tourist season in Orlando and the north of Florida, is summer, May to October.

The weather is at it's warmest and humidity is high and this often means afternoon thunderstorms with heavy downpours. If you look at the Rainfall chart, you will see that rainfall is considerably higher from June through to September, and don't forget September is Hurricane season!!

Most Europeans will find the winter months much more pleasant in Orlando and the North. Orlando's coldest month, January, still has a max average temperature of 23ºC or 73ºF.

The benefits of this time of year are that rainfall is much lower, queues much shorter and prices for travel much lower. Florida is on the same latitude as the Sahara desert, so it should never be forgotten how powerful the sun is, right throughout the year.

If you are coming from the U.K. or any other cooler climate where you're not used to long exposure to the sun, it's easy to forget to use proper sun protection. Hats, loose light coloured clothing and lot's of sun cream are essential, and make sure you have plenty of waterproof sunblock for the kids.
